Shoe Comparison Motus Strength vs Motus Flex.

These 2 new shoes from Vivobarefoot are incredible (20% off code DROEL20). I’ve long been a fan of Vivobarefoot shoes because they mimic true barefoot conditions. Research supports their use for maximizing foot & ankle activation as well as joint health, & lower body muscle function. But these 2 new shoes take it to the next level.

So what’s the difference between these 2 shoes. The Motus Strength is the most supportive barefoot shoe I’ve used as it has a tons of lateral support, grip, & protection while maintaining the true barefoot feel. In contrast the Motus Flex is one of the most flexible, lightweight & minimalist barefoot shoes I’ve used making it perfect for balance, bodyweight exercises, proprioception, footwork, sprinting, & everyday comfort.

Motus Strength Pros
More lateral support
Better for heavy lifting
Ample protection for toes & feet
Great for Intense plyometrics & weighted jumps
Better for agility drills & change of direction
Great for sports like basketball, tennis, soccer, & more
Excellent for Powerlifting & Weightlifting
Great for Crossfit athletes & Strongman/Strongwomen events.

Motus Strength Cons
Slightly heavier
Slightly less flexible
Not quite as breathable

Motus Flex Pros
Incredibly lightweight & flexible with decoupled/split sole
Very minimalist barefoot (thin sole)
Great for feeling the ground & floor
Perfect for stability & balance training
Excellent for linear sprints & linear speed
Great for basic footwork drills like jump rope
Amazing for everyday wear including personal training
The most comfortable shoe on the market.

Motus Flex Cons.
Not quite as much lateral support
Not as conducive for very aggressive activities like sports
Slightly less protection for the feet.

It really comes down to individual goals & preferences as you can’t go wrong with either of these amazing options. Use code DRJOEL20 at discount for 20% off.

So what’s the difference between the MOTUS Strength vs MOTUS Flex?

Here are the technicalities.

In terms of heavy strength training the MOTUS strength is tough to beat due to the added structural integrity of the shoe. They’re also insanely durable and protective.

However, when it comes to stability & balance training I give a slight edge to the MOTUS Flex due to its ultra lightweight & decoupled minimalist sole.

For heavy plyometrics and weighted jumps I recommend the MOTUS Strength.

However, for linear speed and sprinting I’d go with the MOTUS Flex.

But for lateral movement, side to side agility drills, and lateral support like BOSU ball drills, the MOTUS strength is great.

With that said both shoes are great for jump rope and basic footwork & speed drills.

But the MOTUS Strength is perfect for sports like basketball, tennis, soccer and more.

So if you’re looking for a bit more support & protection, the MOTUS Strength is perfect.

But for maximizing sense of feel, comfort, & just standing on your feet for long hours, MOTUS Flex is amazing.

You can’t go wrong with either. It comes down to individual preferences. If you can afford it I recommend getting both. Use code DRJOEL20 for 20% off at vivobarefoot.com.
