2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Review: An Acquired Taste

2 min read

Ford lightly updated the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport with an appearance package called the Free Wheeling. With retro stripes paying homage to Free Wheeling (or Free Wheelin’) trucks, SUVs and vans from the 1970s, the 2024 Bronco Sport gets throwback style but not much else. Road Test Editor Brian Normile answers the bigger question: Do we still like the Bronco Sport as much as we did when it debuted?

Our test vehicle was a fairly bare-bones model, as the Free Wheeling appearance package is available on the base Big Bend variant. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder, and an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are standard.

The best news for shoppers, though, is that the Free Wheeling doesn’t have any exclusive equipment besides those stripes. So, if you like the looks, it’s a solid choice for you — and if you don’t like the looks, there are plenty of other versions of the Bronco Sport from which to choose.
