LED controllers for front light, interior lighting and rear light
Elmos is an expert for automotive LED controllers. For an easy and fast choice of the proper semiconductor Elmos presents a special Microsite for its LED controllers. The focus is e.g. on the following applications: solutions for low beam, daytime running light, ambient interior lighting as well as rear lights, rear fog lamp and many more applications. The following ICs are presented:
The Elmos LED controller family E522.3x offers a great variety with respect to the choice of the used topology, such as boost-to-GND, boost-to-battery, SEPIC topology or buck-to-battery. The switching frequency can be adjusted from 225 up to 600kHz by means of an external resistor or synchronized with other components in master-slave configuration. The ICs are designed for input voltages between 5V and 55V and an output voltage of up to 80V in boost mode. Depending on the type they can be operated in single and/or dual LED chain mode. Possible applications are low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running light and mirror mounted turn signal.
With the E522.8x component family, Elmos is presenting a powerful product family designed to be used as LED controllers for vehicle rear lights, rear fog lamp, daytime running light and third brake lamp with a worldwide leading EMC immunity. These ICs dispose of a high level of diagnostics features and provide – at the same time – a backward compatibility to existing solutions. Furthermore the E522.80 family offers new ways to solve thermal problems with a minimum of space. Each component possesses three independent linear current sources, capable of delivering a current of 60mA or 150mA per channel. Configuring all three channels in parallel this provides an output current of up to 180mA or 450mA. Due to a local network single strings can be combined to connected clusters without additional effort.
The E521.31 is a component developed for ambient interior lighting in the vehicle. This component enables the simple and flexible configuration of an RGB LED system with LIN bus. The IC facilitates the control of an RGB LED as well as a white LED. The component is equipped with a 16-bit microcontroller, flash, RAM, a voltage regulator and a LIN transceiver with integrated BSM auto-addressing (bus shunt method). By use of this method a configuration of every single IC is no longer necessary, because the system automatically detects the position of the LED.
