Automotive Upholstery Foam Shaping
Another great http://www.jefflilly.com shop video!
When you want to build your own Hot Rod or Custom Car seating out of foam the following techniques work great. First you need to decide on the contour or shape that will fit your vehicle including the overall size that will be attractive and comfortable at the same time. You may want to consider a lumbar support and the height in the front of the lower section to clear the back side of your knees. Once these decisions are made simply take your template and using 5 inch foam and a band saw cut out the individual shapes as exact matches. Once all your pieces are cut spray Landau Top adhesive / glue made by DAP and carefully adhere the sections together. As seen we then top off the ends with a 1/2 inch layer of the same foam. Using 50 to 60 grit sand paper we then contour the foam our liking. Once you are happy with the overall look you are ready to make the cover.
