New from Bridgestone we’ve got its Battlax T31 sport-touring tire.

The T31 replaces the T30 EVO and is claimed to elevate grip and handling, especially in the wet. The tread zones take advantage of a greater groove ratio near the shoulders pushing more water away from the contact patch, which Bridgestone says is up to 7% larger. The center however has reduced grooving for greater rigidity during straight-line braking and acceleration.

The angle of the rear tread is placed strategically— forcing the tire into the pavement thus producing more grip, with up to 3% greater friction co-efficient on wet surfaces. This also attributes to quicker steering and more lively handling.

Still a uniform compound at the front, the new rubber mixture benefits from improved silica dispersion for better road feel. The rear construction continues to use dual compound zones with a softer mixture atop a stiffer center on both sides. This elevates cornering grip without compromising durability and resistance to wear.

The T31 is available in 22 sizes, and five heavy-duty GT specifications for plus-sized touring bikes.
