GM Recalled 600,000 of These Engines. We Found Out Why.
2 min read
GM recalled virtually 600,000 automobiles equipped with the 6.2 L L87 V8 after reports of serious engine failures.
We got among these warranty engines that failed GM’s Pico test and tore it to see what was actually taking place inside.
What we located was rather clear: metal-to-metal call on the bearings, indicators this engine was currently on its method to failure, and a lot more troubles deeper in the valvetrain.
In this video, Dave breaks down what he believes is contributing to the L87 failings, why oil stress and crankshaft surface area coating issue, and what we’re intending to check next on the dyno.
This is just the start of our L87 testing.
