Lucore Automotive Presents : Tales From The Shop Lexus IS300 Turbo and ’69 Chevy Chevelle Big Block

2 min read

The automotive hobby and some would call obsession is something that cuts across not only ages sexes and races but different genre as well. You see it in car shows or cruise ins, the Old School people prefer their big American cars and muscle car V8s while the New School tend to spend their time around lighter weight more nimble imports often powered by fewer cylinders and some sort of forced induction. Well with this video we bring you two cars, one from each camp, and show that not only can both style be right… but we should be able to appreciate and enjoy each others personal style and preference.

We at Lucore Automotive are car people supporting the gear head community of Columbus Ohio for over a decade, no matter which camp you come from. New School, Old School… we’re all in this together!

First up we have Kevin Mounts with his 2002 Lexus IS300 now sporting a sizeable 6465 turbo setup from Driftmotion. Originally born as a luxury 4 door sedan with a naturally asperated 2JZ under the hood this car has been through a total transformation in a little over a year. Now putting to the tires more than double the power it initially made when rolling off the assembly line the car maintains complete drivability and still has EVERY factory option intact and functioning!

Secondly we have Joe Koban, our engine builder at Performance Research Inc and his fathers 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle that over the past 2 years went from a basket case to an absolute street monster. Now powered by a 567 cubic inch Dart big block and all sorts of other goodies mated to a Tremec TKO transmission this thing isn’t just an old school Slow Car/Show Car!

We hope you like this video, much more to come from these and other cars as we share with you the viewers some of the cars we have had a hand in.
